You’ve just said yes to the love of your life, and you’ve now got this huge rock on your hand, ready to show off to the world, you’re engaged. Now what? The internet is full of recommendations and information, but you’re looking for some inspiration on what you’re going to wear for your big day, and that's when you’ve stumbled across this blog.
Styled shoots are not just good for wedding suppliers to showcase their skills, they are also great wedding inspiration for the brides to be. If you haven’t thought about how you’re going to look on your wedding day, styled shoots can be the best type of inspiration you need, and they can point you to the best suppliers that fit your vision for your wedding day.
Sustainable wedding and bridal inspiration go hand-in-hand this year as, a huge trend we'll be seeing in 2024 is sustainability. Saying ‘I Do’ to the love of your life, and the planet when planning your wedding day, is in! I think you’ll want to know about these small businesses. These 3 businesses can make you feel sexy and happy knowing you’re doing your bit to save the Earth.
Beyond the Veil is a bridal boutique based in the heart of Brighton and is known for doing bridal differently. The neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ friendly and queer-owned boutique stocks only designers whose ethos aligns with their own, putting inclusivity and sustainability at the centre. The boutique's newest supplier is Rolling in Roses, who proudly says “We use sustainable, ethically produced, organic and eco-friendly fabrics, and offer vegan alternatives to silk. For us, sustainability is a lifestyle, not a gimmick; we are conscious of everything we do, from using paper tape instead of sticky tape on our dress patterns, right down to the recycled paper in our ladies’ room. And we recycle everything.”
Let’s not forget, the dresses are simply stunning too! For the Untamed Bride shoot we used The Kawaii Dress and The Yugen dress from their Kirei collection, which is inspired by Japanese ink wash paintings.
The dresses paired with the Layered Pearl Earrings from bridal jewellery and accessories designer Janie, owner and creator of The Lucky Sixpence started the company when she wanted to find some jewellery for her own wedding.
Janie says: “The wider impact of my work is very important to me. Reworking vintage elements already has the benefit of items not going to landfill but I also buy the bulk of my materials from other independent businesses - many of which are local to me. Should I need to buy materials from outside of the UK I do so in bulk to try and cut down my carbon footprint. My luxury keepsake boxes are made from recycled materials and can all be recycled, any additional packing is either recyclable or been recycled. I work from my home studio in Devon which is powered with solar energy.”
Who said sustainability can’t be luxurious? The vegan silk of the Rolling in roses dresses looked simply elegant paired with Fresh water pearl hoop earrings but, my favourite piece of the whole shot was the Pearl Link Head Chain which completed the regal look. Pearls are another trend hitting this wedding season and you’ll be seeing them everywhere! The thing with pearls is that they never really go out of season, and women have been rocking pearls throughout the years, everyone should have some pearls in their jewellery box!
One tip I would give you, is to make sure you feel like you on your wedding day, and to buy pieces you would wear again. If you wear them all the time, do they really cost you anything?
If you love your wedding dress, but also won’t be able to wear it again, sell it so it can be loved by someone else or repurpose it into something you can wear again and again. One example could be, getting dyed to a different colour and turning your white gown into an elegant evening dress or you could get it taken up and made into a mini dress that you could wear every wedding anniversary!
That brings me onto my next sustainable business I think you should know about, The Floral Hire.
known for their modern silk flowers that are sustainable, on trend and on budget, you can hire your wedding day bouquet and return them, so they can be used again! They don’t just do bridal flowers but they also do centrepieces, wreaths and buttonholes.
Their 4 step process is simple and quick - and stress free!
Pick your floral from their collection from the comfort of your own home.
Hire your flowers and receive your carefully packaged blooms 3 days prior to your wedding day.
Enjoy your stylish florals on your wedding day!
Return the flowers in their pre-paid boxes.
Feeling gorgeous and sustainable has never been easier!
